The Story of Café Aviva
A neighborhood bakery and coffee house on Roosevelt Island, serving slow-fermented French pastries and Italian coffee in memory of our mother, Aviva.
"Good baking brings people together around the table every morning."
Aviva
We opened Café Aviva in memory of our mother, Aviva. She believed in simple morning rituals: fresh bread from the oven, hot coffee, and unhurried conversation.
Our family kitchen was always full of fresh dough, brewing coffee, and neighbors stopping by. Aviva welcomed anyone who walked through our door.
We brought those family recipes to Roosevelt Island so our neighbors have a dependable morning spot for crisp croissants and properly pulled espresso.
How We Bake & Brew
Traditional French lamination and classic Italian espresso.
48-Hour Lamination
We cold-ferment our pastry dough for 48 hours using Normandy butter, producing crisp layers and an airy honeycomb interior.
Authentic Espresso
Traditional dark and medium Italian roasts with thick crema, pulled fresh on a calibrated commercial espresso machine.
Baked Fresh at Dawn
Baking begins at 4:30 AM every morning so all croissants and pastries are warm when doors open on Main Street.
